New Delhi: Delhi University has issued a notification asking all its colleges and departments to keep their classrooms and laboratories open from 8 am to 8 pm on all working days. The objective of this measure is to ensure optimum utilization of resources. The notification was uploaded on the university website on Thursday. Also, the colleges and departments have been directed to submit an action taken report before May 31. According to a university official, this mandate was not there earlier.
In the notification, the university said that it has revised the timings as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) with an aim to expand the availability of all resources to the students. The UGC guidelines, issued on January 14, were meant for central universities and other higher educational institutions.
“The University Grants Commission vide its communication DO No. F.13-10/2022 (CU) dated 11th January 2023 issued by the Secretary, UGC has requested the Central Universities and HEIs to take appropriate measures for the implementation of the UGC guidelines Optimum utilization of resources available in Central Universities/Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to benefit UG/PG students and researchers.
“All colleges and departments are required to take appropriate measures to open classrooms and laboratory facilities from 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM on all working days,” DU said.
Registration starts for Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme
Delhi University has started the application process for Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme. Students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate programs can apply for the summer internship 2023 program at the official website dsw.du.ac.in.
Those selected for the internship will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 and a certificate will be provided by the Dean of Student Welfare on successful completion of the programme.
