Goa Schools To Be Closed Tomorrow Due To Heavy Rains

The Goa State Education Department has declared Thursday, July 6, 2023, a holiday for all schools in Goa. The move by the state education department comes after the IMD (India Meteorological Department) forecast heavy rain in Goa on Thursday. July 6, 2023. After forecasting, Education director Shailesh Sinai Zhingade issued a notice announcing the closure of schools on July 6. “In view of the incessant rains and in view of the alert issued by the Goa Center of the India Meteorological Department predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy rainfall… the competent authority has issued an order dated July 6, 2023, news agency PTI said in the official notice It has been decided to declare holiday for classes I to XII.

Significantly, in the last few days, there has been heavy rain in many parts of the country, especially in the southern states. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka have also ordered closure of schools on Thursday, July 6, in view of heavy rains. In their order, both the district administrations have directed all educational institutions including primary and high schools, graduate colleges, anganwadi centers as well as government and private-aided schools to remain closed on Thursday.

Earlier yesterday on July 4, the Dakshina Kannada district administration had announced holidays for Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in several parts of the district. In the order of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhillan MP, parents were also advised to stop their children from going to low risk. -Low lying areas, lake shores and beaches due to prevailing weather conditions. The precautionary move by the Dakshina Kannada district administration comes after forecast of heavy rains in the district for the entire week, with the district expected to receive rainfall ranging between 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm between Tuesday and Saturday. Heavy rains during the monsoon season are currently affecting the South-Western states. Before Goa and Karnataka, the administration in Kerala has declared school holidays in various areas.
