New Delhi: The Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) was held on Sunday, August 28. The online test was conducted for the applicants seeking admission in undergraduate engineering courses at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The exam consisted of two papers – Paper 1 was conducted from 9 am to 12 noon, while Paper 2 was conducted between 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The top 2.5 lakh rank holders of JEE Main results were eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, and a total of 1.6 lakh students, including 50 foreign nationals, registered for JEE (Advanced) 2022.
The general opinion of the candidates has been that Paper 1 was moderate though it was tougher than Paper 2. According to The Indian Express, in Paper 1, Mathematics was rated the toughest, Physics moderate and Chemistry easy.
Ramesh Butlish of FIITJEE Expert said that the aspirants felt that the maths section was tricky and difficult. There were two questions from 3D Geometry. Some tricky questions from Functions, Matrices, Ellipses, Vectors, Probability, Harmonic Progression and Trigonometric Equations.
The Physics section for Paper 2 was considered a bit tough. Mathematics was relatively easy as compared to previous years, Chemistry was same as in previous years.
Saurabh Kumar, Chief Academic Officer, Vidyamandir Classes, told the news outlet that the biggest change this time was that the matrix match type question was given as an optional question, reducing stress on the students.
What is tie-breaking policy?
If the total marks between two candidates is same, then tie-break policy is followed.
- Candidates with higher positive marks will be awarded higher rank.
- Or, the higher rank is given to the one who has higher marks in Mathematics, if it is same, then the total marks of Physics is selected.
If these steps fail, they are given the same rank.
The provisional answer key will be released on September 3 at 10 am. Candidates will be allowed to raise objections till 5 pm on September 4. The final answer key is expected to be released on September 11 at 10 am along with the final result of JEE Advanced.
