Former India captain MS Dhoni is celebrating his 42nd birthday today. The wicketkeeper and batsman was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi. Even after earning lakhs of rupees, Dhoni is a down to earth person who lives in Ranchi, the city he calls home. The cricketing legend of Dhoni will be hailed for a long time. He broke many records and won 3 ICC trophies for India. In the IPL, he gave Chennai Super Kings many brilliant performances. Coming from a humble background and hailing from a city that is less talked about, Dhoni’s story is an underdog story. He broke all doors with solid performances and became a phenomenon. With long hair and strong body, he hit sixes and fours to establish himself on the international stage. But inside he was always a humble person.

His former Indian teammate Wasim Jaffer once revealed a story which shows the humility of MSD. Talking to Sportskeeda, Jaffer said that Dhoni had once told his wife that he wanted to earn Rs 30 lakh from his hard work. “I remember he told my wife: ‘Bhabhi, I want to make Rs 30 lakh. If I make Rs 30 lakh, I know I can go very peacefully,'” Jaffer said.

The former Test opener for India had also said that Dhoni always wanted to stay in Ranchi, wherever he went.

“’Come what may, I will not leave Ranchi. (Come what may, I will not leave Ranchi)”, Jaffer said, underlining the simple things Dhoni loved.

Jaffer said that Dhoni had come up with a very small target. He didn’t want to conquer the world. Due to his ingenious plans and thinking, he eventually conquered the world. Jaffer said that Dhoni managed to do wonders with the Indian team and CSK because he was a down to earth, simple person who kept things amazingly simple and logical.

“They didn’t change their process over time. He remained calm and even after achieving a lot as captain, I don’t think he has changed his approach or his approach or the way he talks or the way he looks at things. And that’s the greatness of the man, I think,” Jaffer said.

According to reports, today Dhoni has assets worth Rs 1000 crores. He has several businesses running in his name and a lavish farmhouse on the outskirts of Ranchi. But despite all the wealth, he is still a simple man with an annual earning of Rs 30 lakh.
