However, there have been occasions where a person receives more than his fair share of ration or where those not entitled to ration receive ration to the exclusion of others.
By linking Aadhaar card with ration card, the government will be able to prevent individuals from getting duplicate ration cards. It is also possible to detain people who are ineligible to receive rations because their income exceeds the limit.
This will also ensure that only those people are eligible to receive subsidized fuel or food grains.
The linkage also helps prevent duplicate ration cards and unscrupulous middlemen, allowing genuine and eligible beneficiaries to access government-sponsored benefits.
