New Delhi: Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on 5th September since 1962. The day was chosen by former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as some of his students wanted to do something special on his 77th birthday. He instead suggested celebrating the day as Teacher’s Day to pay tribute to all the teachers.
Dr. Radhakrishnan, a scholar and philosopher, believed in education for all. With his achievements and contributions, he remained a teacher throughout his life.
Till date Teacher’s Day is celebrated with enthusiasm in every school and college, students will prepare plays, dances and poems to thank their teachers.
