TMC See Education As ‘Tolbazi’, Cut Money: Union Education Minister Targets Bengal Govt

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday targeted the West Bengal government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over alleged scams in state recruitments. According to news agency ANI, he said, “In the Mamata Banerjee government, ‘shiksha’ (education) has been changed to ‘shiksha’ (lack of education). They (TMC) see education as ‘tolabazi’ And cut money.”

He accused the Trinamool Congress of loosening the rule of ‘tolabaji’ and ‘cut money’ (extortion and commission) in the state’s education sector.

“There were scams during state recruitments and even in the mid-day meal scheme. People have seen all this,” he said.

Pradhan was referring to the arrest of former state minister Partha Chatterjee and several officials of the state recruitment panel and education board in connection with an alleged scam in the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff in government and government-sponsored schools.

“More big names will come under CBI’s target in the coming days as the probe by the central agencies progresses… Now middlemen are being caught in job recruitment scams. Wait for the central agencies to find the big names involved. With the passage of time Reason,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.

Intensifying his attack, the Union Minister said, “The biggest crime of TMC is recruitment scam, mid-day meal scam, raising money through touts and squandering money… This is indeed a sad commentary on the situation in Bengal, Which used to be before.” Known as the soil of Goddess Saraswati”
