New York : Third seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated home favorite Frances Tiafo to reach the final of the US Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday. Alcaraz is the second teenager in the Open Era to reach a US Open final, joining veteran American Pete Sampras. In a match that lasted 4 hours and 19 minutes, Alcaraz gave a scintillating performance to beat Tiafo 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-3. Alkarz will now face Norway’s Casper Rood, who defeated Karen Khachanov 7-6(5), 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in the semifinals for the US Open title on Sunday.
