Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ben Stokes wasted no time and started preparing for IPL 2023 on the same day he joined the CSK squad in Chennai. on Friday, March 24. The England Test captain took centre-pitch drills with bat in hand and sent several deliveries past the ropes. Stokes received throw downs and pace from the net bowlers and aimed to clear the boundary every ball. CSK shared a video on Twitter where the left-handed batsman can be seen targeting a straight boundary. He hits the balls straight down the ground, a tactic he could employ in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

Hitting the maximum straight down the ground is one of the best shots played by Stokes across formats. He likes to clear the front leg and create space when the ball is aimed at his body and slams it over the bowler’s head for a six. If it is full pitching, Stokes prefers to make the most of the delivery.
On Friday, he worked more on his style of hitting sixes and there is a logic behind it. When you hit the ground, there is less chance of getting caught even if you hit wrong. The ball usually lands somewhere between long on and long off. The risk is only when both long on and long off are placed very straight and a few yards apart. Stokes will surely rely on this shot to score some quick runs in IPL 2023.
The England star was bought by CSK in last year’s auction for Rs 16.25 crore, making him one of the costliest players ever in the history of the cash-rich league.
