A video of Indian captain Rohit Sharma forgetting to toss or bat during the second ODI at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Saturday has been made public by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). When Ravi Shastri asked Rohit Sharma what he would do if he won the toss, Rohit paused and scoffed, while New Zealand captain Tom Latham and match referee Javagal Srinath laughed. In the end, the choice of fielding first was made by the Indian captain.

Rohit said, ‘I forgot what we wanted to do, had a lot of discussion with the team about the toss decision, wanted to challenge ourselves in difficult conditions, but we will bowl first. It was a good test for us, knowing that the wicket would be better to bat on and that was the challenge before us.
“Bracewell batted well, but we bowled well in the end and won the match. There was a bit of dew during the practice session, but we have heard from the curator that it won’t play any role on game day. We batted first in Hyderabad , we wanted to bowl first here, same team.” she added.
There will be an unchanged Indian XI in the second ODI. New Zealand, on the other hand, will also be using the same lineup as the first game in Hyderabad, which they lost by just 12 runs despite heroics from Michael Bracewell, who scored 140 (78).
Tom Latham on the toss said, “We could have bowled earlier, first international game here, so not sure how this wicket will play out. Brilliant last game, well done with the bat and hope to do the same here .
“To take back experience, winning games is important, but the experience of playing in these conditions will also come in handy. Ish (Sodhi) has still not done well, so we are playing with the same team.
